The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on artificial intelligence with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on March 20.
On March 20, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on artificial intelligence.
The MoU was signed and exchanged between Additional Deputy CAG A. M. Bajaj and IIT Delhi Director, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, in the presence of CAG Girish Chandra Murmu.
This Memorandum of Understanding calls for collaboration between CAG and IIT-Delhi in four main areas: knowledge sharing, capacity building, audits of AI systems, and the use of AI in audits.
Auditors use AI to analyze massive amounts of data with unprecedented speed and precision,
allowing them to more accurately identify trends, abnormalities, and possible risks.
Mr. Murmu said at the event that the MoU represented a critical turning point in using AI and other cutting-edge technology to develop audit practices and beyond.
"The Government of India has made significant progress in implementing AI for governance, and it is expected to become the Global Hub for AI Innovation in 2024, serving as the chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI)," Mr. Murmu stated.
